About SilkBow
Some people are born shoppers. They love to spend time combing through stores and catalogues to find the perfect gift. But sometimes even the people who enjoy shopping the most just don’t have the time to go from store to store in search of the right present. Add children, a job, a busy social life, and running the household to the mix and suddenly shopping becomes impossible to make time for. That’s where we come in.
SilkBow founders are moms like you. When our children were young, we were harried, frazzled, overworked and exhausted. We remember how every second was precious, and wanted to find a way to add more time to your day. That’s when we had our idea: What if we could do the shopping for you? Not a pricey personal shopper, but a way for you to give a great, personalized present for any occasion. What if we could help you select this present from the comfort of your own home, providing you with the chance to compare options with just the click of a button?
We designed this site with you in mind. We scoured the Net to find the best gifts for everyone on your shopping list, and now all you have to do is select what you're looking for, review the product details, and order. The gift comes delivered to you or your recipient’s door, and you never have to change out of your pajamas!
The people at SilkBow love moms. We want to make your life easier and provide you with a resource you can trust. This FREE service offers convenient shopping, multiple selection options and helpful newsletters that will address your life and challenges as a mom. Whether buying gifts for your children, your boss or that hard-to-please Uncle Charlie,
SilkBow is the perfect place for the perfect gift.
SilkBow Gives Back to the Community
The founders of SilkBow have pledged to do their part to combat extreme poverty in developing countries by partnering with Unitus, a respected international charity that provides microfinancing to give impoverished families an economic boost.
“People aren’t aware of the pervasiveness of poverty, or how effective microfinance services are at giving working poor a hand up, rather than a hand out,” said David Schappell, Vice President of Communications for Unitus: Global Microfinance Accelerator. “We’re honored to be supported by entrepreneurial companies like SilkBow, especially because we work to help micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries start businesses of their own.”
SilkBow makes life easier by providing moms with creative gift ideas and links to pertinent information for moms on the internet. Unitus helps moms in underdeveloped countries with micro-loans, allowing families to grow and thrive economically. Our common goal is to support moms who want to enrich their families’ lives. SilkBow donates a percentage of every sale to Unitus.
The Founders of SilkBow
Co-founders Karen Fusco and Pat Brill launched SilkBow meeting their personal challenge to go live in 90 days. They put together a great team, worked with fabulous mentors and made it happen.
Karen Fusco worked as a teacher and in the business world as the Production Manager of ‘S9’, the leading CB Radio magazine of its time, before embarking on a career in Computer Programming and Analysis. After 10 years in this field, Karen ventured out on her own and has been an entrepreneur for 13 years. She currently owns Creative Solutions where she is a Systems Consultant, designing and writing custom software for her clients, and Creative Properties through which she is involved in real estate investing. With her varied background in special education, publishing and programming, in addition to her artistic flair, Karen has used her knowledge and talents to create this latest project, SilkBow.
Karen is also a mom with two daughters. As a single mother for most of their childhood, Karen has worked very hard to raise them well and is quite proud of the wonderful young women they have become.
Pat Brill brings more than 20 years of management experience in finance, human resources, and office management to the company. Her experience as a business manager and director of human resources has been with small to medium sized companies in the technology and creative industries. She currently owns Enhancement Coaching which provides career coaching services to individuals. Pat’s broad business experience is perfect for a new business venture such as SilkBow. Pat earned a BA in Social Sciences from Adelphi University. She has acquired the highest level of certification within the human resources field – Sr. Professional of Human Resources. Pat is also a mom with a son and daughter.
SilkBow is our latest venture, exciting and creative beyond compare.
